What's the difference between enamel and acrylic automotive paint?
What are the advantages/disadvantages of both?

- DId you mean acrylic enamel and lacquer? Acrylic enamel is a water vapor based paint. Easier to paint, clean and repair. More difficult to add pearl. Needs a clear coat to protect it. Inexpensive. Lacquer is expensive, petroleum based, super toxic, difficult to clean or repair drips, but looks superb with an experienced painter. No need for clear coats.
- they are both usually lacquers Acrylic is affordable, easy to work with and repair, drys quick but not to quick, easy to find. Duplicolor is my favorite brand. Enamel is more durable than acrylic, harder to work with, harder to find certain colors, more expensive, a drys super super quick. Its def best left for the pros.
