Car Paint Company

How do I get something sticky off the paint of my car?

This sticky stuff is clear. Not sure if it is tree sap or not. It wont come off with just washing it. I need to find something that will take off the sticky stuff but wont take off the car paint.

  1. I amnot sure where you live... But we have this stuff here, it is called GOO GONE... it is great. It takes tar and bugs off , so I am sure it will take your sticky mess off... Look for it at your local drug store.
  2. Put an amount of kerosene in a clean cloth. Wipe the area in single direction of stroke until the sap or sticky substance disappear. Wash it with desired cleaning car detergent afterwards
  3. With regular cooking oil. Apply it with your fingers, you don't need A LOT. Let it sit for a little bit and it will come off easily.
  4. Goo Gone work very well and it will not damage the paint.
  5. the best thing to use is a small amount of mineral spirits, You can use Goo Gone or similar product but if using it to much it will damage the clear coat on the paint. If you can not find mineral spirits mix 1 part Nail polish to 2 parts water. Use a soft cloth, (microfiber best), put a small amount of the mix on the cloth and lightly wipe the area in a circular motion. Repeat this step until the Sap is gone. Make sure you wax the entire area ( if the spot is on the hood wax the whole hood or fender etc). I have been a professional detailer for many years. The best thing to do is keep your auto waxed with a premium polymer based sealant about every 3 months, this will make it much easier to remove, things like Tar, Bug Juice and Sap and keep them from hurting the finish on your vehicle.
  6. WD-40...spray it,...let it sit a minute, wipe clean....
  7. Take a propane torch and point it at the sticky stuff for 30 seconds until it burns off.
