What Do I Do To My Paint Before I Wax My Car?

Somebody told me to wash and then apply "3M Prep Solvent" to my car paint before waxing it. Is this safe to do?

1. If she's grungie, use rubbing compound. Otherwise, just wash & wax.
2. I don't know if it's safe, but that's not how most people do it. They just wash and dry the car. Don't do the wax in direct sunlight. A good prep might be a clay bar or "Clear Coat Body Scrub" by Meguiar's.
3. yea i would wash then use clay bar then wax if you want it to last longer
4. Waxing makes your car looks good but it not good for the paint. Don't wax it too often. Once a year is good enough.
5. I definitely recommend using 3m imperial hand glaze before waxing your car. This product will basically clean up your paint by taking away swirl marks and such. Make sure you do this in the evening when the suns going down or in your garage. I recommend using meguires wax afterwards. it takes awhile but it is worth it.
